Vision
For many, the story of Oasis is what happens on Sunday mornings, hundreds gathered in worship. But another story is written here every week: The Second Story.
It’s the story of life change happening in our Kids, Students, Young Adults, and 55+ ministries. Because of these growing ministries, it’s time to add more space for what God is doing.

We’re proposing to build a second floor over the entire lobby, adding up to 4,500 sq. ft. of flexible, multi-use rooms for small groups and gatherings throughout the week as well as staff office space.

The project is expected to cost about $1.8 million, including design, construction, and furnishings. In that figure, we also have a handful of cosmetic updates to existing spaces that are showing their age after 9-10 years of use. Our goal is to begin in spring 2026 and complete it before fall of the same year.

This expansion isn’t just about adding rooms, it’s about making space for more stories to be written.

The Future
We recognize that we have a wonderful tension; Oasis is growing, and we need more space on Sundays. The beauty of this project is that while it seems like it does not directly address the pressure on Sundays in the main auditorium, it does provide the auxiliary space we need now while preparing us for the opportunities ahead.
Our building was designed with expansion in mind. The proposed second floor will one day become a balcony, and the main auditorium will expand into the current lobby, expanding our current capacity by 50%. This next phase will also require additional land to the west to make room for more seating, ministry space, parking, and green space. This is land we continue to actively pursue.

Any infrastructure built for the proposed project will easily adapt for that future balcony. In the meantime, these new rooms will meet the growing needs of our Kids, Students, Young Adults, and 55+ ministries, while also serving as staff office space during the week as our team grows. The added capacity in these areas better positions us to consider future options like additional services or locations.
FAQs
-
What about adding auditorium space?
We do not have enough parking space at this time to add capacity to the auditorium. For that project to be pursued, additional land would be required (and we continue to actively pursue its acquisition! -
What about adding more services?
We continue to evaluate if more services would effectively solve our space dilemma, or if it would instead cause new issues (i.e. creating one overcrowded middle service). Either way, the proposed addition better positions us to consider adding another service creating more space for the added kids and youth that come with a growing congregation, as well as space to house more staff to support a third service. -
Is there a contingency fund included?
Yes, approximately 10%. -
How much cash does Oasis currently have to invest in this expansion? Will there be a builder's loan?
We have about $500,000 already donated to our Future Fund for this. We hope that with a year-end giving push towards The Second Story and good financial stewardship, we can do this without a builder's mortgage.
-
Have quotes been obtained from more than one builder?
We had three builders bid on the project. Industry experts, along with our Stewardship Team, evaluated each of those proposals and decided on the winning bid. -
Will the rest of the building be of use during construction?
The plan is to keep as much of the building in operation during construction as possible, including Sunday mornings, although it may look a little different at certain points during the process! -
Is the City of Winnipeg involved in the planning process? They may have interesting requirements in order to get occupancy and other permits.
We trust that our architectural and engineering consultant, along with our contractor, will anticipate City of Winnipeg requirements for permitting and occupancy during construction.
