If you’re struggling with how to manage your family’s increasing anxiety about the current public health crisis, you’re not alone.
A lot has probably changed in recent weeks - daily routines, plans being cancelled, other plans being put on hold - and everyone is being asked to tolerate a bit more ambiguity than normal. In order to maintain mental health, it's important to be aware of the signs that you or your child may be struggling. Common reactions to this public health crisis may include:
Anxiety/excessive fears or worries
Hyper-vigilance or over-preoccupation about your health or body
Difficulty concentrating
Feelings of helplessness
Social isolation or withdrawal
This current COVID-19 situation we are facing really accentuates things but the truth is, knowing how to handle your kids' stress and anxiety is an important lifelong tool.
